					<description><![CDATA[<p>Isopropanol is a secondary alcohol and it is having the properties which are also favourable to the industrial uses i.e. it is a mobile, colourless, low-boiling, flammable water-miscible liquid with a characteristic alcoholic odour.</p>
<p>There are large fields of application of isopropyl alcohol. The major use of isopropanol is for the production of acetone. The other uses of isopropanol are a wide variety of solvents and chemical intermediates, used in drugs and pharmaceuticals. It is also used as a deicing agent for liquid fuel and as preservatives.</p>
<p>For handling and storage of isopropanol drums, bottles, tins tank cars and piping and equipment are used.</p>
<p>There are two methods for the manufacture of isopropanol as a commercially important. Both of the methods involve the hydzation of Propylene.</p>
<p>By the first method, Proplyene is absorbed in the sulphuric acid in an absorber with a jacket, which is subsequently hydrolyzed with water to isopropyl alcohol and dilute sulfuric acid. The various purity of the product can also be obtained.</p>
<p>However the other process, which is more popular and modern is direct catalytic hydration of propylene, is combined with demineralized water.</p>
<p>The main items of plant and equipment are a packed bed reactor, one rubber, storage tanks and a distillation column. All these equipments are available indigenously with chemical plant fabricators.</p>
<p>This report envisages for one ton per day of isopropyl alcohol. The B.E.P. comes to be 43.55%. Though there is a good demand for this chemical, due to competition from by plants the profits are expected to be low.</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>It goes without saying that soap is indispensable to our daily life. Accordingly, the manufacturing industry should continue to develop as one of the most important industries.</p>
<p>Soap may broadly be classified by use as follows:-</p>
<p>a) Soap household (toilet soap, laundry soap etc.)</p>
<p>b) Industrial soap.</p>
<p>c) Special soap.</p>
<p>Among them, the consumption of special soap which is used for medical purposes and shampooing is not large. Industrial soap which is important, being used in the textile industry etc. is not consumed in a large quantity, either.</p>
<p>Household soap which is most important quantitatively accounts for the larger part of the consumption of soap. The production of laundry soap has sharply decreased in recent years with the global spread of synthetic detergents.</p>
<p>Indeed, it appears as though soap has given place to synthetic detergents. However, toilet soap enjoys a stabilized demand and its manufacture is not likely to lose in importance for a long time to come.</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Benzyl alcohol (C7HaO) and its esters are found in the essential oils of a wide variety of flowers and in balsams obtained from the exudation of trunks of resinous trees. Benzyl alcohol is one of the few chemicals used extensively not only in perfumery but in totally unrelated fields as well, such as pharmaceuticals, lacquers, etc. Large quantities of benzyl alcohol are therefore manufactured of which only a portion is used in the perfumery industry.</p>
<p>Benzyl alcohol has a somewhat weak odour and its main use is as a solvent in perfumes and pharmaceuticals. It is represented by the following structural formula:</p>
