The production of poultry in the United States and generally throughout the world is carried out by a highly specialized, efficient poultry industry that has been a leader in trends of scale and industrialization that have taken place in American agriculture over the past half century. The total number of chicken produced in the United State annually amounts to more than 3.6 billion. These are kept for two separate purpose the production of table eggs. The organization and methods used by the two aspects of the poultry industry are different, and generally commercial table egg production and broiler production
are carried out by separate enterprises.

Availability of feeds and their ingredients contributed significantly to increased Poultry production is our country during the two decades.

Feed represents about 75% of the total cost of egg production and per cent of the cost of broiler production. Therefore, efficiency in feeding is are of the key factors for successful poultry production. But very few poultry formers demote a comparable preparation of their managerial time to ensure that the feed supplies and food in take by the birds are satisfactory.

The broiler industry is a highly integrated industry in which most of the steps in the production process are controlled by a single firm. A hatchery, breeder flocks, feed milk, processing plant, and a number of contract growers served by technical service staff make up a typical integrated broiler company. More than 90% of the commercial broilers are raised by grovers under contact to a broiler firm.

Broiler production is concentrated in relatively few states, most of the which are located in the South. According to recent days, the ten leading states in broiler production produce about 83% of all the broilers produced the Unites States. From large integrated boiler companies produce about 18% of the broilers in the United States and the 20% largest companies produce 55% of the broilers in this country.

Poultry are kept for the production of eggs and meat. Poultry are kept in most areas of the world and provide an acceptable form of animal protein to most people throughout the world. During the last decade, many developing countries have adopted intensive poultry production in order to meet the demand for this form of animal protein. Intensively kept poultry is seen as a way of rapidly increasing animal protein supplies for rapidly increasing urban populations: poultry are able to adapt to most areas of the world, are relatively low priced, reproduce rapidly, and have a high rate of productivity. Poultry in the industrial system are housed in confinement with the aim of creating optimal conditions of temperature and lighting, and in order to manipulate day-length to maximise production.

Chicken Processing Plants are Conveyor - based chicken slaughter plants having an overhead conveyor and full range of process machineries. The birds are dressed on the conveyor through all the important stages of processing such as stunning, halal, hot water scalding, de-feathering, evisceration & chilling etc. The conveyor based operations and scientifically designed machineries ensure highest levels hygiene and give the best quality of meat. They are designed for dressing capacity of 250 to 2000 Birds Per Hour (BPH).

Poultry farms are increasing steadily. Many government agencies are encouraging poultry farming and even short term training courses are organised regularly. Such farms have generated considerable employment opportunities in semi urban and rural areas. Marketing of poultry birds is expensive and death of birds during transit is the main bottleneck. This compels most of the poultry farms to concentrate on nearby markets even if it means less prices. Instead, if these birds are processed after dressing and packed in tins then transportation is easier, shelf life of the product goes up and the product is more hygienic.
