A Disposable syringe is a basic responding siphon comprising of a plunger (however in present-day syringes, it is really a cylinder) that fits firmly inside a round and hollow cylinder called a barrel. For syringe manufacturing plunger can be directly pulled and pushed along within the cylinder, enabling the syringe to take in and oust fluid or gas through a release hole at the front (open) part of the bargain.

The open part of the bargain might be fitted with a hypodermic needle, a spout or tubing to coordinate the stream into and out of the barrel. Syringes are as often as possible utilized in clinical medication to control infusions, imbue intravenous treatment into the circulatory system, apply mixes, for example, paste or oil, and draw/measure fluids.

Disposable Syringe is an instrument which is used for injecting any liquid into the body of human beings or of animals. It consists of a cylinder and an air tight piston. These syringes are used for injecting the medicine into the body or into the nerve of the body which are not possible to take in through mouth or takes much time in mixing with blood.

These syringes are available in sizes varying from 2 C.C. to 100 C.C. Most popular and commonly used sizes are 2 C.C., and 5 C.C. Other sizes are also frequently used but upto lesser extent.

In this project, we are manufacturing the disposable syringes with the sizes are 2 ml, 5 ml, 20 ml and 50 ml.

Previously glass was used for making these syringes; the most commonly used glass is Pyrex glass. This glass is shock-resistant, temperature-resistant and has low thermal co-efficient of expansion. But with the development of plastic technology, this glass has been substituted by high grade plastics. Plastic can be used in place of glass for making syringes without any problem.

Plastic syringes are becoming more popular in the medical world due to its lower cost and higher accuracy. To test the efficiency of a syringe, close the tip with a finger and attempt to withdraw the plunger or piston. If the plunger and barrel fit perfectly, the vacuum created in the cylinder will prevent withdrawal of the plunger. The plunger should not be pulled to return rapidly due to the vacuum created or the barrel may be cracked.

With the development of pharmaceutical industries the use of syringes has also developed. About 70% pharmaceutical industries are in small scale sector. The output of the small scale sector covers a wide spectrum of formulations, which includes antibiotics vitamins, anti T.B. drugs, ant dysentery drugs, anti-rheumatics, haematinies, hormonal preparations, tranquilizers, analgesics and anti-phyreties. Indeed this is a very wider range of product mix. About 50 percent of the above listed drugs are injectable and for that purpose syringes are required.
Disposable Syringes are being used by doctors to inject medicines through intravenous or intramuscular ways for the treatment of diseases & also by research & development personnel. Disposable syringes are made of plastic material and are used in the field of medical and veterinary science. Due to their availability in sterilized condition, ready to use, and cost effectiveness, disposable syringes are fast replacing the age-old glass syringes. Moreover, the horror of AIDS worldwide has almost dispensed with the reuse of syringes and the demand of disposable syringes has increased phenomenally. Disposable syringes are mostly injection molded from polypropylene. Syringes are available in sizes of 1 ml, 2 ml, 5 ml and 10 ml, 50ml in a variety of designs and consist of either two or three components construction. The number and size of injection moulding machines required depend upon syringe construction, number of mould cavities, annual production.

Disposable Syringes made of plastic Material have been successfully used in medical and pharmaceutical practice for many years. The constantly increasing use of this type Syringe indicates its importance. Which is based mainly on the advantages it offers regarding cost and hygienic applications.

The manufacture of plastic syringes has been developed to such a degree that the products now satisfy the requirements and standards set by Hospital and physicians. At the same time they offer the best possible technique of application to the physician and the highest possible degree of safety to the patient.

A syringe is a simple pump consisting of a plunger that fits tightly in a tube. The plunger can be pulled and pushed along inside a cylindrical tube (called a barrel), allowing the syringe to take in and expel a liquid or gas through an orifice at the open end of the tube. The open end of the syringe may be fitted with a hypodermic needle, a nozzle, or tubing to help direct the flow into and out of the barrel. Syringes are often used to administer injections, insert intravenous drugs into the bloodstream, apply compounds such as glue or lubricant, and measure liquids.

The word "syringe" is derived from the Greek σύριγξ (syrinx, meaning "tube") via back-formation of a new singular from its Greek-type plural "syringes" (σύριγγες).

Sectors in the syringe and needle market include disposable and safety syringes, injection pens, needleless injectors, insulin pumps, and specialty needles. Hypodermic syringes are used with hypodermic needles to inject liquid or gases into body tissues, or to remove from the body. Injecting of air into a blood vessel is hazardous, as it may cause an air embolism; preventing embolisms by removing air from the syringe is one of the reasons for the familiar image of holding a hypodermic syringe pointing upward, tapping it, and expelling a small amount of liquid before an injection into the bloodstream.

The barrel of a syringe is made of plastic or glass, usually has graduated marks indicating the volume of fluid in the syringe, and is nearly always transparent. Glass syringes may be sterilized in an autoclave. However, most modern medical syringes are plastic with a rubber piston, because this type seals much better between the piston and the barrel and because they are cheap enough to dispose of after being used only once, reducing the risk of spreading blood-borne diseases. Reuse of needles and syringes has caused spread of diseases, especially HIV and hepatitis, among intravenous drug users. Syringes are, however, commonly reused by diabetics, and this is safe if the syringe is only used by one person.[3] In medical settings, single-use needles and syringes effectively reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

Medical syringes are sometimes used without a needle for orally administering liquid medicines to young children or animals, or milk to small young animals, because the dose can be measured accurately and it is easier to squirt the medicine into the subject's mouth instead of coaxing the subject to drink out of a measuring spoon.

Tip designs

Syringes come with a number of designs for the area in which the blade locks to the syringe body. Perhaps the most well known of these is the Luer lock, which simply twists the two together.

Bodies featuring a small, plain connection are known as slip tips and are useful for when the syringe is being connected to something not featuring a screw lock mechanism.

Similar to this is the catheter tip, which is essentially a slip tip but longer and tapered, making it good for pushing into things where there the plastic taper can form a tight seal. These can also be used for rinsing out wounds or large abscesses in veterinary use.

There is also an eccentric tip, where the nozzle at the end of the syringe is not in the centre of the syringe but at the side. This causes the blade attached to the syringe to lie almost in line with the walls of the syringe itself and they are used when the blade needs to get very close to parallel with the skin (when injecting into a surface vein or artery for example).

Standard U-100 insulin syringes Insulin syringes are marked in insulin "units".

Syringes for insulin users are designed for standard U-100 insulin. The dilution of insulin is such that 1 mL of insulin fluid has 100 standard "units" of insulin.[5] Since insulin vials are typically 10 mL, each vial has 1000 units.

The Project at Glance

This project proposes to install entire equipments needed for an integrated Disposable syringe plant. This means that the project aims at mfg. all the components of a syringe within the plant and assemble them into a complete syringe for sale under ifs own reliable brand name. To make its product economical, the project doesnot intand to import seemless extrunded tubes of miniature diameters which happen to be quite expensive. This project propose to cold extrude the stainless steel tubes and draw them in colod condition to reduce the tube diameter to the required sizes. The required composition of S.S. billits will be procured indigenously for cold extrusion to produce stainless steel miniature tubes for use as raw material to produce injection-needles used in syringes. Of tubes, out of its own productions S.S. the unit will make properly processed needles and starilize then for hygeinic uses. The other components of a disposable syringe are: Barrel, piston & hub. The barrels one made of sterilized plasftic of specified grade by injection moulding process, followed by finishing operations, calibration and re-sterilization piston is the part of a syrange which reciprocates into the barrel barrel bore for filling the liquid medicine into the barrel, through the needle & hub hole which is concentric & centrally locased, and also to inject the medicine drawn into the syringe for infuion into the patients's body. Like barrel, the piston is also made out of specified grade of plastic by injection moulding process.

In the light of the remarkable performance of the latex
products sector. It is no wonder that the sector has now
attracted a greater share of the interest interest in
manufacturing. However the smallness of domestic market will
have to be realised and new entrepreneur will have to look
towards international demand. The consumption of NR latex is
increasing continuously in world since 1980. Some of the latex
product like surgical gloves are likely to have very high demand.

Disposable Syringes are being used by doctors to inject medicines through Intravenous or intramuscular ways for the treatment of diseases & also by research & development personnel. Disposable syringes are made of plastic material and are used in the field of medical and veterinary science. Due to their availability in sterilized condition, ready to use, and cost effectiveness, disposable syringes are fast replacing the age old glass syringes. Moreover, the horror of AIDS worldwide has almost dispensed with the reuse of syringes and the demand of disposable syringes has increased phenomenally. Disposable syringes are mostly injection moulded from polypropylene. Syringes are available in sizes of 1 ml, 2 ml, 5ml and 10ml, 50ml in a variety of designs and consist of either two or three components construction. The number and size of injection moulding machines required depend upon syringe construction, number of mould cavities, annual production.
