Herbal cigarettes consist of finely cut Herbs, with certain other ingredients, rolled in specially manufactured paper. Their use has in recent years, increased considerably, particularly in urban areas, due to unharmful effect as compared to tobacco cigarettes. During 1934-35, the per capita consumption of cigarettes in undivided India was 20 the per capita figures in the different states being: Assam 44; Bombay 41; Baroda 39; Mysore 37; Hyderabad 30; Punjab 20; Bengal 19; Bihar, Orissa, Central Provinces, and Kashmir 15 each; and U.P and Madras 10 each. Prior to World War I the indigenous manufacture of cigarettes was mainly concentrated in and around Calcutta and at Monghyr (Bihar). The industry was of a modest and the Eastern India Cigarette Manufacturing Co. Dum Dum were the principal manufacturers employing on an average 1,150 labours out of a total labour force of 1,454 employed by the industry. The production was increased after the war and new factories, big and small, sprang up all over the country to meet the increased demand. There are at present 5 large groups viz., ITC, GPI, VST, GTC, NTC.

The Shampoos, Hair oils and Rose water are being produced by is on higher side.

The popular demand in bulk shampoos being for those with a high viscosity, this can be obtained by leaving the shampoo exposed to air for a week, or a fortnight at the most. Emulsified coconut shampoos popularized the liquid variety, but the demand for coconut preparation is probably not so great as it was. The reasons are the difficulty in covering the odour of the oil and the fact that some coconut shampoos have the hair in a slightly greasy condition. This should not be so however even if made by the cold process; the user may not have studied thedirections for use or the latter may not be complete. But it is not always the fault of the user; it may be due to faulty manufacture.

MANUFACTURE OF WASHING SOAP, TOILET SOAP, DETERGENT POWDERS, LIQUID SOAP & HERBAL & PASTE DETERGENTS AND PERFUMES WITH FORMULATIONS

Soaps are water soluble sodium or potassium salts of fatty acids. Soaps are made from fats and oils, or their fatty acids by treating them chemically with a strong alkali, Detergents, or washing powders, are type of detergent (cleaning agent) that is added for cleaning laundry. In common usage, detergent refers to mixtures of chemical compounds including alkylbenzene sulfonates, which are similar to soap but are less affected by hard water. In most household contexts, the term detergent refers to laundry detergent vas hand soap or other types of cleaning agents. Most detergent is delivered in powdered form.

Saponification of fats and oils is the most widely used soapmaking process. This method involves heating fats and oils and reacting them with a liquid alkali to produce soap and water (neat soap) plus glycerine.

The other major soapmaking process is the neutralization of fatty acids with an alkali. Fats and oils are hydrolyzed (split) with a high pressure steam to yield crude fatty acids and glycerine. The fatty acids are then purified by distillation and neutralized with an alkali to produce soap and water (neat soap).

When the alkali is sodium hydroxide, a sodium soap is formed. Sodium soaps are hard soaps. When the alkali is potassium hydroxide, a potassium soap is formed. Potassium soaps are softer and are found in some liquid hand soaps and shaving creams.

The carboxylate end of the soap molecule is attracted to water. it is called the hydrophilic (water loving) end. The hydrocarbon chain is attracted to oil and grease and repelled by water. it is known as the hydrophobic (water hating) end.

The Perfume manufacturing industry is a very large industry that employs a number of experts with ongoing experiments and improvements. Perfumes today are being made and used in different ways than in previous centuries.

Because the sense of smell is a right brain activity, which rules emotions, memory, and creativity, perfume are now also being used to heal and make people feel good. Smelting sweet smells has a positive effect on one’s mood and helps to boost the immune system.

Aleo barbadensis, popularly known as Aleo Vera originated in the warm, dry climates of Africa. However, because of its wide adaptability as well as its importance as medicinal plants, it is well distributed.

The virtues of the plant have been recorded by many great civilizations, from those of Persia and Egypt in the middle east, to those of Greece and Italy in Europe, to those of India and the African continent. The plant is widely known in Asia and the Pacific and is found in the folklore of the Japanese, the Philippines and the Hawaiians. The Spanish used Aleo and carried it with them to their new worldcolonies in South America and the Caribbean .It is reported to grow wild on islands of Cyprus,Carary Cape, Cape Verde and arid tract of India . Aleo can substitute synthetic ingredient used in cosmetic industry very competitively and is finding increasing use in the ever growing consumer product segment as medicinal plants, vegetables, pickle purposes etc, has inspired growers for commercial cultivation in many parts of the world. The gel produced from its mature leaves is used in cosmetic industry for the preparation of shampoo, face creams and moisturizing agents .
