Globally, the Indian Education sector is amongst the largest, with an extensive network of more than 1.4 million schools (with over 200 million students enrolled) and more than 850 universities and 40,000 higher education institutes and is expanding rapidly in light of rising income levels and growing demand for quality education in the country. Further, India also has the world’s largest population in the age bracket 3 to 23 years which highlights the large addressable market for this sector. Education sector in India is a mix of government-operated & privately operated educational institutions and allied education products & services providers. India has a significant young population which calls for a robust education sector to harness potential for human capital. The sector is highly influenced by various government schemes and policies launched primarily to improve the quality of education and the planned expenditure through several schemes. Literacy in India is one of the key deterrents to the socio-economic progress of the country. The Indian literacy rate is currently 76% (Source: 71st Survey of the National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO)) compared with 17% at the end of 1950. Although there has been a significant increase in India’s literacy levels, it still has the largest illiterate population in the world, with its literacy rate below the world average of 86%. Additionally, according to various experts, a majority of the graduates from universities are not easily employable. The education sector in India has witnessed a paradigm shift in recent times. Once operated primarily as a philanthropic or a nation building activity, it has since transformed into a ‘sector in its own right. So far, basic primary education and certain specific institutions for higher education, like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have been the prominent parts of the Indian education sector. However, due to an increase in competition coupled with the increasing need to provide quality education and generate positive learning outcomes, the Indian education sector is slowly but steadily moving on the reforms track.

A finishing school is a school for young women that focuses on teaching social graces and upper class cultural rites as a preparation for entry into society. The name reflects that it follows on from ordinary school and is intended to complete the education, with classes primarily on deportment and etiquette, with academic subjects secondary. It may consist of an intensive course, or a one-year programme. In the United States it is sometimes called a charm school.

Today with a new cultural climate and a different attitude to the role of women, the situation has reversed: Miss Porter's School downplays its origins as a finishing school, and emphasizes the rigor of its academics.[15] Likewise Finch College on Manhattan's Upper East Side was "one of the most famed of U.S. girls' finishing schools," but its last President chose to describe it as a liberal arts college offering academics as rigorous as Barnard or Bryn Mawr.

The term finishing school is occasionally used, or misused, in American parlance to refer to certain small women's colleges, primarily on the East Coast, that were once known for preparing their female students for marriage.[18] Since the 1960s, many of these schools have closed as a result of financial difficulties stemming from changing societal norms making it easier for women to pursue academic and professional paths not open to previous generations.

Education plays an important role in the progress of an individual’s mind and country. People are made aware of what is going on in the world and can understand these issues and take necessary measures, if they are educated. Education tames the astray mind, nurturing its capabilities the same way, training builds a clever dog. Webster defines education as the process of educating or teaching (now that's really useful, isn't it?) ‘Educate’ is further defined as “to develop the knowledge, skill, or character of...” Thus, from these definitions, we might assume that the purpose of education is to develop the knowledge, skill, or character of students.

Education being one of the most important factors responsible to shape the personality of an individual has manifold functions. It is the potent source of material and human development.

The nursing profession is a noble profession, which contributes significantly and dynamically, in preventive, promotive and curative aspects of the health sector. There is a good scope of Nursing school and it needs very much. Apart from being a highly responsible and dignified profession, this profession demands special skills (keen observation, emergency identification, therapeutic use of self, effective communication, technical effectiveness, stress management of self and health team members), 24x7 service, dedication, patience, love and care for sick or injured patient.

In India, nursing educational programs such as Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery, General Nursing and Midwifery, BSc(N), MSc(N), MPhil and PhD(N) exist. INC prescribes uniform standards and syllabi for every educational program to be implemented across the country. However, the implementation by educational institutions having varied capabilities is not uniform resulting in graduates with varying knowledge, attitude and competencies. The last syllabus revision for ANM was done in 2012-13, GNM 2015-16, B.Sc- 2006, PBBSc- 2006 and M.Sc 2008. The growth in nursing educations is phenomenal. To open the nursing school, an entrepreneurs can well venture into this field. There is a need of this type of schools in India. From 2000 to 2016, ANM schools have increased from 298 to 1927, GNM schools from 285 to 3040, B.Sc colleges from 30 to 1752, and M.Sc colleges from10 to 611. Although the increase is significant still there is gap between demand and supply. The 12th five-year plan suggested establishing 24 centers of excellence in nursing. EIRI have prepared the project report to open the nursing school. The HR efforts included up gradation of schools to colleges, strengthening of existing schools, faculty development, and establishment of 6 AIIMs like institutions.

BOARDING SCHOOL
[CODE NO.589]

Boarding school is a school where some or all people study and live during the school year with their fellow students and possibly teachers and/or administrators. The word 'boarding' is used in the sense of "bed and board," i.e., lodging and meals. Some boarding schools also have day students who attend the institution by day and return off-campus to their families in the evenings.

In the quest to widen the horizon of knowledge dissemination, this society resolved to take up the teacher training programs viz. bachelor in education {B.ED } and elementary teachers training {ETT} in the current year. Whereas B.ED program is designed for graduates from recognised universities, ETT course is designed for undergraduates who aspire to become teachers for future. SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL (CBSE BASED 10 +2)
[CODE NO1564]

Last year, CBSE had announced that a school recognized by the State government seeking provisional affiliation to the Board did not have to produce an NOC from the concerned State education department, except in specific cases.

Speaking to The Hindu on the sidelines of the valedictory function of ‘Parvatotsavam’, an inter-school competition and exhibition celebrating mountains organised by the Sri Kanchi Mahaswami Vidya Mandir on Saturday, Mr. Joshi discussed a host of issues spanning increase in the number of CBSE schools, corresponding quality control, importance of in-service training and effective implementation of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation system.

He noted that the number of CBSE schools across the country has gone up in the past 3-4 years. “Between 800 to 900 CBSE schools are added across the country in a year,” he said.
