Wind  by virtue of its motion, contains kinetic  energy  and therefore has the ability to work. It has been estimated by  MNES that India has an exploitable wind energy potential of 20,000 MW. The  target for 8th plan is 400 MW including World Bank  assisted project of about 75 MW.</p>
<p>Both central as well as state govt. agencies of some  states are   offering   varieties  of  incentives   and   infrastructure facilities for setting up wind farms. Many private wind farms are expected  to come up in the states of Gujarat,  Karnataka,  Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh.</p>
