More  than  Seven percent of the  world’s  milk  comes  from Buffalloes. Buffalloes milk is used in much the same way as cows’ milk.  It is high in dairy fats and has milk proteins which has total solid, which gives it a  rich & thicky flavour. Most people in country drink buffaloe milk but now a days cows’ milk is also becoming popular and its demand is increasing on day by day due to several health benefits as ascribed by doctors and medical practitioners. Many people prefer it to cow’s milk and are willing  to pay  more  for  it.   In our country, say for example Mumbai  city alone  an estimated  15,000  new  born babies starved to  death  each  year due to lack of milk.  The demand for Buffallo  milk  in  India is reflected in the prices paid for a litre of milk. The  main milk breeds of India Buffaloes are the Murrah,  Ravi, Surti, Mehsana, Nagpure, & Jafarabad.

India alone produces 70 million MT per year buffalo milk which is the highest production in the world, also it has huge consumption itself. Our country has so much production that the 2nd most producer, Pakistan, is way behind it. Although several states constitutes the dairy farming here, but Punjab, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Bihar are few prominent ones.
