Dhoopbattis are incense paste used in temples and other place of worship, and for performing pooja in households,shops etc. When ignited, Dhoopbatti burn slowly and emit smoke and pleasant odour its burning times varies from 15 minutes to 3 hours depending on the quality and size.
Dhoop which is an aromatic powders or paste burn as a fragrant fumigant and is reputed to possess some insecticidal and antiseptic properties.
Almost 75% of the Dhoop batti manufactured in India are of cheap quality made from charcoal powder, low quality sandalwood powder and wood Gum powder some cheap perfumes are used to give them a top note. In superior varieties of dhoopbatti essential oils purified resin, natural fixatives like amber musk and civet are used along with synthetic aromatics.
